Weekly Recap – November 8th, 2013

Milestone-wise, it was a big week – 250 posts and a two year blogiversary followed by a bunch of exceedingly kind words from all my friends out there on the Internets. I know what I’ll be thankful for this Thanksgiving (well, all year round, really).

NaNoWriMo? I’m just under 20,000 words so far. I should crack that tonight, but then tomorrow begins the five-day Gold Rush road trip. As long as I can hit 1,321 words a night, I can reach 50,000 and “win” this month. It will be tough, but I will have some additional time off work to catch up next week. Even if I don’t make 50,000 before December 1st, projected final wordcount of this draft is around 70,000 words. Fat chance I’ll complete that in November anyway.

Back to the road trip, base camp will be the historic Gunn House Hotel in Sonora, CA. The reviews are good and there’s so much to see within a twenty-mile radius. Fingers crossed that I’ll stumble across a couple of gold nuggets the diggers just happened to miss and I can fund a full-time writing career.

I hope you all had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend!

  1. Nice job on NaNo, Phillip! You’ll have no trouble reaching 50k by the end of the month despite your trip, which by the way sounds fantastic! The hotel looks great! Good luck with your search for gold. Perhaps if you make a discovery you can share a nugget or two with your fellow blogging buds. 🙂 Have a great trip and congratulations and a great week!

  2. Great week, Phillip. Congrats on the blogging anniversary and your word count so far — impressive! How anyone makes it to 50k in November is beyond me, but I have great admiration for those who do. Relax and enjoy your trip. It sounds wonderful.
