Weekly Recap – November 1st, 2013

Wow, where did October go? November thinks it can just slide in unnoticed?

Oh well. Pumpkinflavored everything is upon us and NaNoWriMo has begun to tighten its demanding little fingers around our necks. There’s no sense in fighting it.

Happy to report that all is well again among the family. Stress levels have decreased slightly, although that’s probably not true. Stress just tends to shift sources and all we can do is rearrange our defenses. Focus on the good stuff! As part of that effort, I’m attempting to get back to regular exercise. It’s a good way to distract the lower brain and also make time for listening to writing podcasts.

I’ve sketched out 40 scenes for A Parting War, so far. I’m sure more will come up along the way. For once, I don’t think I’ll have any trouble hitting the 50,000 word mark. I think I learned a few things from last month’s effort on what types of scenes I need to include, at least in the beginning draft.

I wish you all a great weekend and success on whatever it is you’re working on!

  1. I’m so happy to hear your family member is doing well. That’s great news, Phillip. I love the new look. The font is easy on my old eyes! 🙂 Best of luck to you this month. No doubt you’ll crank out a great story. Enjoy the weekend and happy writing!

  2. Happy NaNoWriMo, Phillip! And I hope you can stick to that promise you made to yourself to exercise–I find even a thirty-minute walk each day increases my productivity quite a bit. (I listen to writing podcasts, too!)

    1. Thank you Candace! So far, I’ve been able to stick with it. Life tends to derail me, as it does to us all, but I try to get back on the exercise horse as quick as I can. BTW, any writing podcast you recommend? I’m always looking for more!

  3. I’m glad your family member is on the mend.
Sounds like you have a great plan for NaNo! Keep at it! I sketched out my semi-NaNo plan: scenes to write each day. Trying to keep up 1000 words a day.

    1. Thank you Linda. Sounds like you have a good plan as well. I know you’ll have no problems hitting your goals. 🙂 I also know you have other projects lined up, so I hope those are also going smoothly for you.
