Weekly Recap – June 19th, 2015

Angus First SelfieLast week, Angus was eating mom’s phone. This week, he managed to take his first selfie. Though he’s still a cutie, we’ll have to break it to him that there are certain angles which may be more flattering.

Guys and girls! Thank you so much for your feedback on my “Writing Into the Dark” experiment. Overall, I’m having a blast and have posted a permanent table of contents page along with a link also published at the top of my blog. I still get those scary moments of staring “into the dark,” knowing that I don’t have a plan and I better come up with something quick, and something good, or else…

And then I laugh, because, “or else…what?”

Sometimes it’s useful to describe what something is not: My goal for writing blindly is not to write the perfect story. It’s not to get people reading it, though that would be great, and it’s one of the secondary reasons why I post it on my blog. It’s not to catch the eye of an agent who would certainly be visiting my blog for no reason whatsoever and declare that I am the greatest writer who ever lived and she’s already lined up a multi-million dollar three-book deal…it’s eerie just what sort of twisted fantasies the mind can conjure up.

Beyond the is-nots, the goal is to recreate the experience of reading a story for the first time. No one gets hurt. I’m having fun. It’s good practice. I can happily say that mission is being accomplished. If I should fall off the wagon and forget this at any point, please be so kind as to send me a link to this recap.

To the dads out there, Happy Father’s Day weekend. To everyone else, celebrate like you’re a dad anyway! Weekends only come once a week after all. 🙂
